More than 1,340 citizens voted by mail in the presidential election and constitutional referendum. The CEC president, Angelica Caraman, announced it. She explained that overseas electoral offices finished receiving ballots yesterday at 6:00 p.m.
“We received 1,344 envelopes out of the 1,808 sent to voters. Any envelopes arriving after this time will be declared invalid,” Caraman said.
“If a runoff election is necessary, ballot reception will only begin once the Commission announces the two candidates moving to the second round.”
For the first time, this election implemented mail-in voting in six countries: the USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Finland.
