President of Moldovan Parliament Engages with Diaspora in Austria on Reforms and European Aspirations

At the beginning of his official visit to Vienna, the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, had a discussion with Moldovans living in Austria. According to a statement from the Legislature, Moldovan citizens were interested in learning about the progress that the Republic of Moldova is making in implementing recommendations from the European Commission, as well as the digitization of public services.

“We are in the midst of reforms so that we can initiate accession negotiations as soon as possible,” mentioned the head of the legislature.

The discussions also touched on the daily concerns for our country, such as combating criminal groups and disinformation, energy security, and voter corruption. Igor Grosu informed them that a government priority is to build strong institutions capable of facing all challenges.

Another topic of interest for our compatriots was investments in renewable energy. Participants in the discussion also talked about education and common cultural projects.

“Our citizens abroad know what it means to be part of the large European family; it means democracy, peace, and security, academic integrity, modern infrastructure, a strong economy. And all these are what we want for those at home. Only through active involvement, whether you are in the country or abroad, will we succeed in changing Moldova for the better,” was the message conveyed by the President of the Parliament during the meeting with representatives of the Moldovan community in Austria.

The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, is on an official visit to the Republic of Austria from November 21 to 23, 2023, at the invitation of his Austrian counterpart.
