Prime Minister-designate Vasile Tofan will appear before Parliament today to present his government’s program and ministerial team before requesting a vote of confidence from lawmakers. The plenary session is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
The government program, titled “European Economy, Efficient State,” is built around five key priorities: reviving the economy, accelerating Moldova’s accession to the European Union, reforming the state, strengthening security, and improving people’s quality of life.
According to the document, the incoming government aims to encourage investment and entrepreneurship, speed up the EU accession process, reduce bureaucracy, and further digitalize public services. The program also includes measures to strengthen national security and the justice system, while increasing investment in education, healthcare, and social protection.
The Cabinet proposed by Vasile Tofan largely retains the ministers who served in the previous government.
To be confirmed in office, the government must receive the support of a majority of elected MPs. If Parliament grants a vote of confidence, President Maia Sandu will sign the decree appointing the new Cabinet.
Maia Sandu nominated Vasile Tofan for the post of prime minister on July 11, following the resignation of Alexandru Munteanu.
