Starting March 28, 2025, Russia will add the Republic of Moldova to the list of countries facing international road freight transport restrictions. Under the Kremlin’s new regulations, Moldova joins Ukraine, EU member states, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Moscow argues that these countries must be “punished” for imposing restrictive measures against Russian citizens and companies operating in the road freight transport sector, reports BANI.MD. As a result, Moldovan products will no longer be delivered directly to Russia.

However, some products are exempt from these restrictions, including cocoa products, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products. These goods will be allowed for import starting April 24, 2025.
Authorities will require all other goods to be transshipped onto trucks registered in Russia or Belarus at border crossings or designated transshipment zones.
