From July 1, the “Railway of Moldova” will increase the tariff for grain transportation by 8%. This was stated by the Deputy Director of the Commercial Department of Ukrzaliznytsya, Valery Tkachev, at a meeting with representatives of the agricultural business.
As the official noted, Ukrzaliznytsia twice appealed to Moldovan colleagues (the last time on June 9) and asked for a discount on the transportation of grain and other goods, but so far, to no avail.
According to V. Tkachev, Ukrzaliznytsia offered to equalize Ukrainian and Moldovan tariffs and to announce how much cargo Ukraine should transport through Moldova to receive discounts.
“The difference in tariffs for the delivery of grain to the Izmail elevators is $10, Reni – $12. If Ukraine could get a discount of about $5, then it would be realistic to load not only the direction towards Reni but also Giurgiulesti,” writes Interfax-Ukraine.
