Prime Minister Dorin Recean met with Ulrich Schmitt, the newly appointed Country Director of the World Bank for Moldova, to reaffirm the strong partnership between Moldova and the international financial institution. The two officials highlighted the progress of several key projects that are improving the lives of Moldovan citizens.
Prime Minister Recean expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s continuous support in implementing concrete measures that directly benefit people, while also advancing Moldova’s reform agenda and European integration efforts.
“The World Bank has been a vital partner in helping the government increase productivity, invest in infrastructure, and improve living standards,” said Recean.

He listed several priority projects supported by the World Bank, including:
Energy interconnection with Romania
Enhancing agricultural competitiveness
Modernizing public services
Improving water and sanitation systems
Raising education quality
Land registration and valuation
In turn, Ulrich Schmitt emphasized that the World Bank remains committed to closely collaborating with Moldovan authorities and supporting all major reforms. He also noted that cybersecurity will be an important area of focus in future cooperation.
