A delegation from the Embassy of the United States in Moldova traveled to the left bank of the Nistru River. Representatives of the so-called foreign ministry in Transnistria said the American side initiated the talks with separatist officials.
The meeting brought together the self-proclaimed foreign minister Vitali Ignatiev and the self-proclaimed deputy prime minister Vitali Neagu. According to the separatist authorities, the participants discussed ensuring citizens’ security and maintaining public order.
“Representatives from Transnistria highlighted the need for joint efforts to combat crime and reiterated the need to resume cooperation between law enforcement bodies in Transnistria and the Republic of Moldova. They emphasized the existence of relevant agreements signed during the negotiation process and the need to restart their implementation,” the separatist officials said in a statement.
The Embassy of the United States in Moldova has not yet published any information about the meeting.
