Republic of Moldova will sign EU Joint Procurement Agreement for medical countermeasures

President Maia Sandu met with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides. Stella Kyriakides on a working visit to Moldova.

According to the presidential press service, the visit coincides with the joint procurement agreement signing that will enable Moldova to buy medicines and medical equipment alongside EU member states. This agreement aims to provide greater security and access to life-saving products, especially during global shortages, and to secure more reasonable prices for medicines and medical devices.

Maia Sandu expressed her appreciation for Moldova’s inclusion in the EU4Health Program, which grants the country access to funding for capacity building, health workforce development, and improved access to medicines and medical services.

In recent years, the European Union has consistently supported the modernization of Moldova’s health system, including the various hospital wards upgrading and aligning the national health system with EU standards. The President also thanked the EU for its support during difficult times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the refugee crisis, and for assistance in procuring medical equipment and ambulances.
