Romania will continue to cooperate with Moldova on energy interconnection

Romania will continue cooperating with the Republic of Moldova on energy interconnection, the head of diplomacy from across the Prut, Luminita Odobescu, said ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. The diplomat also referred to the hybrid threats that endanger our country.

The Romanian foreign minister believes that the EU must take measures to mitigate the dangers the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine faced. Bucharest will, therefore, support a new sanctions package against Russia.

“It is important to help Ukraine, protect its energy infrastructure, attacked by Russia, replace equipment, and deliver electricity. Romania will continue to work with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to improve and increase interconnection in the energy sector,” Minister Odobescu said.

She also emphasized that it is significant for the European Investment Bank to support EU accession candidate countries, the Republic of Moldova, the Balkan states, Ukraine, and connectivity projects in the Black Sea area.
