Romanian President Nicusor Dan highlighted two practical but essential issues in Romania’s relationship with the Republic of Moldova: the time spent at border customs and the process for obtaining Romanian citizenship, IPN reports.
When asked whether he plans to change anything to deepen bilateral relations, Dan responded: “Romania’s policy toward the Republic of Moldova has been the right one. We established an energy partnership that reduced Moldova’s dependence on the Russian Federation,” Mediafax reports.
Nicusor Dan called for expanding energy cooperation with the Republic of Moldova and increasing connectivity through transport networks.

He emphasized that Moldova’s key goal is to join the European Union. He acknowledged the 2030 roadmap and pledged that Romania would support Moldova diplomatically and operationally. “We gained valuable pre-accession experience, which we can share with the Republic of Moldova,” stated Romania’s new president.
