July brings the country’s biggest Sanziene celebration annually at Castel Mimi. On July 5 at 4:00 p.m., Castel Mimi, the only wine castle in Moldova, will open its gates to everyone eager to celebrate a magical summer evening with loved ones. Guests will enjoy revived traditions, fine wine, and live music in an unforgettable setting.
Organizers are reviving the spirit of the Sanzienele, also known as Dragaicele—benevolent fairies who protect crops and bring abundance. On the first Saturday of July, they invite you to wear traditional clothing and participate in this one-of-a-kind celebration. You’ll weave lavender wreaths, join a mystical wax fortune-telling ritual, and participate in traditional games, sports, and open-air dancing.
The Night of the Fairies will feature performances by iconic Moldovan bands Catharsis and Zdob si Zdub. They will light up the stage with their greatest hits in a concert of reinvented folklore hosted by singer Felicia Dunaf.

Adult guests will enjoy “Sanzienele,” a dry wine crafted and served chilled at Castel Mimi throughout the evening. Worldwide leaders praised this wine at the European Political Community Summit two years ago. Castel Mimi produces it exclusively from native grape varieties—Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, and Viorica—which the winery promotes and expands each year.
Organizers will serve traditional pies and freshly prepared meals at the Open Air Kitchen to complement the wine. Children will enjoy dedicated entertainment and a cinema room designed especially for them.
To support sustainable travel, organizers encourage you to leave your car at home and arrive on the Wine Train, which departs from Chisinau Station and returns after the celebration.
