Officers of the National Anticorruption Center and prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipality are conducting searches in a case that targets the illegal construction of a commercial building on Eugen Doga Street. The investigation involves several individuals linked to construction works that deviated from approved project documentation, expanded onto public property and received final acceptance without the required permits, even though the National Inspectorate for Technical Supervision had suspended the works through a control act.
The National Anticorruption Center reported that ten people have suspect status. They include the head of the Agency for the Inspection of Monuments within the Ministry of Culture, the beneficiary of the building, a representative of an economic operator and several persons responsible for the technical execution of the works.
Investigators are documenting violations related to the offense of poor quality execution of constructions, as provided by Articles 257 paragraph 2 and 257 slash 1 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code. Prosecutors from the Chisinau Municipality supervise the criminal investigation, and officers will escort the suspects to the CNA headquarters for questioning.
