On his blog, sommelier Andrei Cibotaru described the rose wines produced by Castel Mimi, which recently stood out at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Croatia. The event, dedicated to rose wines from around the world, awarded gold to the wine from the local vine variety Rara Neagra Rose and silver – Rose de Bulboaca. Both were produced from the 2023 vintage.
“Rara Neagra has an alcoholic volume of 12.5%, is fruity (with pronounced aromas of beech, raspberry, and cherry), dry, with pronounced acidity, refreshing, and only good to drink now. The price of 130 mdl puts it in an extraordinarily good RPC zone” writes the sommelier on Fine Wine.

The Rose de Bulboaca Limited Edition 2023, silver medalist in the wine competition:
“A blend of Pinot Noir and Merlot, 13.5% alcohol by volume, the color of salmon, with intense aromas of summer fruits: cherry, strawberry, rose petals. The acidity gives it a strong surge of freshness. It is bottled in an elegant bottle with a Vinolok glass stopper, which is easy to open and is a good reusable stopper. Bravo Castel Mimi for these wines, both of impeccable quality.”
On his Facebook page Andrei Cibotaru wrote about Rara Neagra Rose: “I – if I were you – would chill it and enjoy it with great pleasure at the end of a day like today.”
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles took place from 20-22 March in the Croatian city of Split, and 1205 rose wines from around the world were tasted in the competition. International experts tasted the wines blindly, without knowing the country or the producer.
