The IPN sources report that the Government is expected to appoint Victor Chirila as the Republic of Moldova’s ambassador to Ukraine, while Mihai Mitu may assume the post of ambassador to Romania. The authorities recently recalled Chirila from his position as ambassador to Bucharest, and Mitu currently serves as a state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
When IPN requested a comment, MFA spokesperson Tatiana Barac said the institution does not yet have information that can be shared with the public.
“At this moment, we have no information to communicate on this subject. We will announce confirmed details publicly when they become available,” Barac stated.
Victor Chirila, a diplomat and foreign policy expert, has extensive experience in analytical work and international projects. He has held leadership roles within the MFA, represented the Republic of Moldova in the United States, and most recently served as ambassador to Romania.
Mihai Mitu, a career diplomat with nearly 20 years of experience, has worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Moldova’s external missions. He has served as the ministry’s secretary general and headed the Presidential Protocol Office. He also worked as a diplomat in Romania, the United States, the Nordic countries, and advanced within the State Diplomatic Protocol Department from attaché to senior coordinator.
