The European Union, with the Government of the Republic of Moldova, supports over 230,000 families across the country. All families with children under five will receive a one-time payment of 1,500 lei per child. The state is offering this support in the context of the Easter holidays. Around 200,000 families, including those in the diaspora, qualify for this aid. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu announced the measure, IPN reports.
Families raising children with disabilities will receive 5,000 lei, regardless of the type of disability. Around 11,500 families will benefit from this aid. An identical amount will go to about 20,000 families who care for adults with severe disabilities. This measure is part of the government’s “Budget +Plus” program.
“This 470 million lei aid package follows a difficult winter full of challenges. We want Moldovan families to find support at home, not abroad,” said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

Starting May 2, the payments will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ social or active bank cards. People without bank cards can collect the money from post offices.
“We will make these payments proactively. Families, parents, and caregivers don’t need to apply, gather documents, or make requests. The Government and the National Social Insurance House have done their homework. We’ve already identified these families,” explained Minister Alexei Buzu.
Beneficiaries will receive a text message when the money reaches their account. Diaspora citizens without an active card in Moldova can pick up the payment at post offices until the end of the year or authorize someone to collect it on their behalf.
