Between May 6 and 7, Sweden’s Minister for European Affairs, Jessica Rosencrantz, will pay a working visit to the Republic of Moldova. The visit comes as Russia steps up its hybrid attacks against Moldova ahead of the autumn parliamentary elections.
Moldova’s future lies in the EU. Despite Russia’s hybrid attacks, the country continues to make impressive progress on the reforms needed for EU accession. Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Sweden’s government has significantly increased its support for Moldova’s European path. This is crucial for strengthening the country’s resilience and enhancing security and stability in our neighborhood,” said the minister.
During her visit, Jessica Rosencrantz will meet several members of the Moldovan Government. The agenda includes discussions on the EU accession process, Moldova’s resilience, and Sweden and the EU’s support for the country. She will also meet civil society representatives to talk about efforts to strengthen media freedom ahead of the parliamentary elections on September 28.
