The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) is closely monitoring recent cases of threats against magistrates and prosecutors in the Republic of Moldova. The statement was made by the CSP president, Dumitru Obada, during the program La 360 de grade on Radio Moldova.
Obada confirmed that anti-corruption prosecutor Ghennadi Epure, who handles criminal cases involving Evghenia Gutul and Victor Popan, has been targeted with threats. According to him, Epure notified the Council and presented evidence of the messages received.
“We have only the complaint filed by prosecutor Epure. These are similar threats, sent to his personal phone through automated messages. Competent authorities will investigate these circumstances,” Obada said.
The CSP president underlined that state institutions have been informed, and protective measures have been taken.
“These cases go beyond the public sphere and fall within the competence of law enforcement. We are carefully monitoring every case and remain mobilized,” he stressed.

Obada warned that such attempts aim to discourage magistrates and prosecutors but will not succeed.
“It is important not to allow ourselves to be manipulated or intimidated. If one prosecutor is threatened, another will continue the work. These attempts will not achieve their goal,” he added.
He also praised the resilience and courage of magistrates facing direct pressure.
“We thank the prosecutors and judges who show determination and do not give in to intimidation,” Obada noted.
Threats against Epure are not an isolated case. In recent months, several magistrates have reported similar pressure. Judge Ana Cucerescu, handling the case of Bashkan Evghenia Gutul, has repeatedly received threats, including death threats, through messages, calls, and disturbing images. In one extreme incident, a funeral wreath was left at her office.
Livia Mitrofan, former interim president of the Chisinau Court and current member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, was also targeted. She received photos of decapitated people and threatening messages, for which she filed a police complaint.
Police authorities state they are investigating all reported cases.
