The CEC Sets June 20 Deadline for Electoral Bloc Registration Ahead of September 28 Parliamentary Elections

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) requires political parties to submit documents for registering electoral blocs no later than 30 days before the candidate nomination period begins, which falls around June 20. The CEC approved the regulation detailing the formation and registration of electoral blocs during its June 17 meeting.

Electoral blocs form through agreements between two or more political parties officially registered with the Public Services Agency. Each party’s decision to join the bloc must be recorded in a protocol and approved according to the bloc’s statute.

The law prohibits political parties with restricted activity from forming electoral blocs.
