A new public amphitheater, named “Ciocana,” has been built from the ground up in the Ciocana sector of the municipality of Chisinau, on Mircea cel Batran Boulevard 4/3. Construction began in 2022 and was completed in 2024.
The project included the construction of support walls for the amphitheater, the installation of a stage, and repairs to the stairs leading to the “Gaudeamus” Theoretical Lyceum. Access ramps for people with special needs were also installed. The area was further improved with paved sidewalks, a public lighting system, and video surveillance cameras.
The site features an irrigation system, modern urban furniture, three children’s playgrounds, two outdoor fitness zones, a dedicated chess area, and a LEGO play space. Later, the surroundings were enhanced with newly planted species of trees and shrubs, creating a more cohesive urban landscape.
The amphitheater is located near several educational institutions, including the “Dacia,” “Orizont,” and “Gaudeamus” lyceums, multiple kindergartens, and several residential blocks.
Today, the “Ciocana” amphitheater hosts a variety of cultural and artistic open-air events.
