The “Destination of the Year” Project 2024 was launched in Romania and Moldova

The Ministry of Culture, the National Office of Tourism with the Association of the Institute for Sightseeing Cities in Romania, announced the extension of the “Destination of the Year” contest to the Republic of Moldova, a tourism and cultural project of great importance in Romania.

Ten representatives of the Republic of Moldova have a chance to enter the competition.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the project aims to encourage competitiveness to increase awareness and strengthen Moldova’s position as a tourist destination by promoting the country’s tourism brand, destinations, forms of tourism and tourism products in Moldova on the domestic market and in Romania.

The competition will be held in two stages, and the following prizes will be awarded:

The seven awards for tourist destinations: Inspiring Cities, Tourist Resorts, Lands with Tradition and History, Eco-Touristic Regions, Fairytale Village, Best Promotion (Tourist Destinations), Grand Prize Destination of the Year;

The seven awards for tourist attractions: Fun and adventure, Cultural-educational attractions, Wellness, Epic accommodations – resorts, Epic accommodations – boutique, Gastronomic experiences, Best promotion; a special award: Destination of the Year in the Republic of Moldova.

The finalists from the Republic of Moldova will be voted in the same categories as those from Romania: Public Vote, Jury Vote, Destination Research.
