The EC will begin evaluating Moldova’s legislation to outline its negotiation framework with the EU

The European Commission will begin evaluating the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to outline the negotiation framework for these states with the EU. Subsequently, the Commission will submit the document to the Council for approval at the next European summit. The statement was made by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in Davos.

The head of the European Commission also mentioned that, in the meantime, the EU will also start working on its reforms to prepare the community for a Union with over thirty member states.

The spokesperson for the Commission on issues related to the enlargement of the European Union asserts that the first step is to form multidisciplinary teams that will cover the entire acquis communautaire. This is because the process of examining the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine must take into account the entire body of European common rights and obligations.
