The education system will undergo serious changes as authorities reorganize several colleges and schools in Moldova

Moldova plans to reorganize several colleges and vocational schools. The Ministry of Education has already prepared this project. The Cabinet of Ministers will approve it at a meeting on May 23.

The list of relevant institutions:

  • The Center of Excellence in Services and Food Industry in Balti will absorb the Vocational School from Alexandareni, Singerei district;
  • The Ion Creanga Pedagogical College at the Aleku Russo University will reorganize and absorb the Gheorghe Asaki College in Lipcani;
  • The vocational school in Cupcinj, Edinet district, will merge with the vocational school in Corbu, Dondusan district;
  • The vocational school in Riscani will merge with the vocational school in Glodeni;
  • The vocational school in Orhei will merge with the vocational schools in Rezina and Telenesti;
  • The Chisinau Center of Excellence in Light Industry will absorb the Chisinau Technological College;
  • The vocational school in Ceadir-Lunga in Gagauzia will merge with the vocational school in Vulcanesti.

The authorities claim that these measures are related to the low number of students in the educational institutions. According to the Ministry of Education, only 26 out of 77 vocational schools have the students required number.

Currently, 459 people work in educational institutions, which will merge with others. The Ministry of Education also said that only some people will get jobs after the reorganization. The rest of the teachers will receive benefits from the Labor Code provisions.
