The process of accession to the European Union was discussed during a study visit to the European Parliament by a delegation from the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, which included deputies from the majority and the opposition, according to the public relations department of the legislature.
At the beginning of the program, the deputies had a meeting with the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Eva Copaci, which was also attended by the President of the Legislative Assembly of Moldova, Igor Grosu. The parliamentarians also took part in the hearings organized on the platform of the Republic of Moldova – Committee of the Parliamentary Association of the European Union, which was attended by MEPs, representatives of the European Commission, and the European External Action Service.
During the visit, the parliamentarians also exchanged views on the European future of our country with the co-chairman of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, Siegfried Muresan.
The program of the visit also included a discussion of the experience of negotiations on accession with the MEP responsible for the Republic of Moldova of the Democracy and Electoral Coordination Group (DEG), Dragos Tudorache, with the Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs and co-chairman of the Democracy and Electoral Coordination Group David McAllister, with the Deputy General SEAE Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Luc Pierre Devigne and MEPs Danuta Maria-Hübner, Petras Auštrevičius and Andrius Kubilius.
During the discussions, the parliamentarians from Chisinau touched upon several topics relevant to our country, including the reform of justice, the economic situation, challenges in the field of security and defense of the Republic of Moldova in the context of the aggressive war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and a hybrid war through disinformation and propaganda.
At the same time, the parliamentarians thanked the European partners for all the support provided to Moldova, including in overcoming numerous crises, and reaffirmed their determination to continue the reform program pursued by our country.
