The EU Funds Photovoltaic Parks in Five Moldovan Localities to Boost Energy Resilience

Five localities in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from photovoltaic parks through a 12.3 million lei investment from the European Union, as part of the project “EU4Resilient Moldova: Secure States, Strong Communities.”

Key Project Details:

  • Localities involved: Mereni (Anenii Noi), Coșnița (Criuleni), Lozova (Strășeni), Larga (Briceni), and Sipoteni (Călărași).
  • Each solar park will:
    • Have a capacity of up to 200 kW;
    • Include modern video surveillance, perimeter lighting, and security fencing;
    • Comply with EU safety and quality standards.
  • Selected through a public call for grants launched by Solidarity Fund PL in July 2024.

Goals and Benefits:

  • Generate green energy for local public consumption;
  • Reduce municipal spending on energy;
  • Cut carbon emissions and support Moldova’s environmental goals;
  • Support Smart Villages initiatives to improve infrastructure and public services.

“We are investing in green energy for a secure and independent future,” said Nicolae Soloviov, project manager. “These parks will help communities face energy challenges with resilience.”

The construction and connection to the grid will be completed by September 2025.

The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova.
