The European delegation in Chisinau will ‘keep an eye’ on the Dodon case investigation

The European delegation in Chisinau will have a close look on the investigation of the case against Igor Dodon, says EU Ambassador to Moldova Janis Mazeiks. The official says there are currently no indicators of alleged political involvement, writes realitatea.md.

The diplomat stated, in the studio of the “Cutia Neagră” show on TV8, that he also shared the same idea during talks with the representatives of the Socialist Party. According to him, if illegalities have been committed, they must be investigated and proven.

“I don’t think there will be any interference, we are waiting, and we hope that the judiciary will prove its independence. At this stage, we do not see any element of any political order. The case is resonant “, concluded Janis Mazeiks.

The former head of state was detained this week, after about eight hours of home searches and interceptions, being suspected of treason, illicit enrichment, passive corruption and acceptance of party funding by a criminal group.

The politician and the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova describe the case as a political one, at the request of the president. The party protested and discussed the issue with the heads of diplomatic missions in Chisinau, but also demanded the resignation of the Government.
