The new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, will present on Wednesday a draft of the denunciation of the agreement with the CIS. It concerns the exchange of information on exceptional natural and man-made situations, information cooperation in the elimination of their consequences, and the provision of assistance to the affected population. The document was signed in 2003 in Yalta.
This is the first project that Efros will present to the executive branch as the interior minister. At the same time, the name of State Secretary Andrei Chekoltan is indicated at the end of the document.
As reasons for the termination of the agreement, “inapplicability, expiration of the validity period, moral obsolescence, and inconsistency with reality” were named.
“The country’s desire to embark on a European path has changed the priorities and needs of the parties in cooperation,” says the draft, published by the executive branch.
In May, the Prime Minister requested an “inventory” of the agreements signed within the CIS. Anna Revenko said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has 39 agreements with CIS. 10 of which, according to the former minister, are “inappropriate.”
In total, according to previous statements by the head of the executive branch, Moldova has about 400 agreements concluded within the framework of the CIS.
