Starting January 1, 2026, the Republic of Moldova will set the national minimum wage at 6,300 lei per month for a full-time work schedule of 169 hours, which sets the minimum hourly wage at 37.28 lei. The increase raises the minimum wage by 800 lei, or about 15 percent compared to 2025.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection prepared the draft decision to adjust the minimum wage, and the Government approved it at the meeting on December 17.

Previously, trade unions called for the minimum wage in the real sector of the economy to increase to 8,050 lei.

At the same time, the Government decided to raise the average monthly salary in the economy to 17,400 lei starting next year. This change increases the average salary by 1,300 lei compared to 2025, when it stood at 16,100 lei.

Both Government decisions will enter into force on January 1, 2026.
