The Minister of Internal Affairs announced that the audit by foreign experts at Interpol Moldova will not proceed

The audit by experts from Interpol’s central office in Lyon at Interpol Moldova, initially planned after the scandal involving employees who allegedly facilitated asylum grants in Moldova and deleted records from the Interpol database for several individuals in exchange for financial compensation, will not take place, stated the Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, according to Moldova 1. He also announced that the internal investigation related to this case will be completed by August 12.

“Let’s conclude the investigation first, and then we will communicate who is responsible, what the sanctions will be, and the steps we will take to address these issues. We have provided them with all the information. It is now up to them to decide whether to come to the Republic of Moldova; we cannot insist,” stated Adrian Efros.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Interpol experts were set to conduct checks due to a corruption scandal. Several employees of the national office were suspected of accepting millions of dollars in bribes to delete Interpol’s red notices, which alert international authorities to wanted criminals.
