Residents and visitors of the capital are invited to the 11th edition of the National Carpet Fair, “Covorul Dorului,” on Saturday, December 21, starting at 11:00 AM at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History. The event celebrates the techniques in crafting the traditional Romanian “scoarta” carpets, inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on December 1, 2016.
The event will feature the opening of the exhibition: “The Sky with Stars, the Earth with Flowers, and People with Customs.” The display includes pieces from the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History’s collection. The collection of “scoarta” carpets dates back to the late 18th and early 20th centuries, showcasing the mastery and diversity of weaving techniques specific to various regions of Moldova.

As per tradition, the event will also host the Craftsmen’s Fair, featuring artisans from various fields, a weaving workshop organized by the “Fir Ales” Group, and a musical program including:
- The folk group “Strajerii Neamului” from Boscana, Criuleni district;
- The folk group “Ciobanas de la Miori” from Parcova, Edinet district;
- The folk group “Mostenitorii,” from Lucian Blaga Theoretical High School, led by Valeriu Chiper.
