President Maia Sandu discussed the contributions of native associations to local development and the organization of a referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union, according to the presidential press service.
She emphasized local communities play a significant role in building a democratic and prosperous society. President Sandu also thanked the members of these associations for their active involvement in regional development, particularly in strengthening social cohesion and fostering partnerships between local authorities and the Diaspora.
President Sandu noted that projects led by Moldova’s native associations—such as pavements, community centers, stadiums, kindergartens, and cultural events—demonstrate how collective efforts can significantly improve living standards nationwide.

Meeting participants underscored the importance of citizen participation in the referendum, regardless of their individual choices, as broad and representative participation is the most democratic way to determine Moldova’s future.
