Members of Parliament from the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) are heading to the Russian Federation for a two-day working visit. PSRM leader Igor Dodon said the trip was organized at the invitation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and aims to strengthen interparliamentary relations and maintain political dialogue between the two countries, IPN reports.

According to Dodon, the visit is also intended to develop cooperation between political parties. He noted that his party has signed cooperation agreements with two Russian political parties: United Russia, the ruling party, and A Just Russia, both considered close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In March 2026, the PSRM leader visited Moscow, where he met with Pyotr Tolstoy, Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma. At the time, Dodon called for the resumption of dialogue between the two countries. In June, he led a Socialist Party delegation to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The PSRM lawmakers’ visit comes amid strained relations between Chisinau and Moscow, against the backdrop of Russia’s war against Ukraine and incidents involving drones entering Moldovan airspace, some of which have crashed on the country’s territory.
