The “Respect Moldova Movement” party has announced plans to file a complaint with the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Information and Security Service (SIS), requesting an investigation into an alleged large-scale fraud involving natural gas purchases by the state-owned company Energocom. The party claims that central authorities favored the transactions and that a lack of transparency is concealing losses exceeding one billion euros, bani.md reports.
Party representative Veaceslav Burlac accused the PAS government of mismanagement and a lack of integrity in the energy sector.
“While European markets list prices at 350–390 euros per 1,000 cubic meters of gas, Energocom purchases at 495 euros — a 33% markup. Moreover, the exact purchase price is kept secret,” said Burlac.
