The Transnistrian authorities have returned to Chisinau 3 million cubic meters of gas borrowed during the energy crisis of January-February 2025. Moldovagaz made the announcement.
“Between March 26-31 of this year, SRL Tiraspoltransgaz returned 3 million cubic meters of natural gas to SA Moldovagaz, by the contractual loan conditions,” representatives of the supplier from the right bank of the Nistru specified.
Between February 26-28, Tiraspoltransgaz returned the other 3 million cubic meters of gas borrowed from Chisinau. The constitutional authorities transferred the volume to the left bank of the Nistru to maintain pipeline pressure.

In January 2025, Transnistria did not receive gas supplies from Russia. As a result, the population remained without heating, and authorities implemented rolling blackouts. In February, the EU provided aid for purchasing natural gas, and later, officials agreed on gas deliveries through a Hungarian company via a firm registered in Dubai.
