Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that maritime traffic has resumed through the Strait of Hormuz. He said ships, many carrying oil, have started moving again through the route.
“Ships are starting to move, many of them loaded with oil, exiting the Strait of Hormuz. They are moving along the southern ‘highway,’ which is completely safe, secure, and unaffected. There are also other shipping routes!!!” Trump said.
The announcement followed statements from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who said the United States and Iran reached an agreement after intensive negotiations.
According to Sharif, Pakistan helped mediate talks between Washington and Tehran, and both sides agreed to immediately halt military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
Sharif added that negotiators will formally sign the agreement in Switzerland on Friday.
