The USA offers Moldova a direct budget support of 30 million dollars

At the end of December, our country received direct budget support of USD 30 million from the United States of America through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), announced the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova.

The funds will be used to overcome the energy crisis, including to compensate citizens’ bills and help economic agents cope with high prices for energy resources.

“Mobilizing these resources will help lessen the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine and help us meet our country’s critical needs. The Republic of Moldova is grateful to all those who supported and are supporting our country during this difficult period”, the press release of the Presidency states.

On December 6, President Maia Sandu had a meeting with the US Secretary of State for Energy, Jennifer Granholm. During the discussions, the severe energy crisis that the Republic of Moldova is going through and how the USA can contribute to overcoming it were addressed.
