Thirty diaspora children are participating in the inaugural edition of the governmental program “DOR de Traditii,” launched under the Prime Minister’s patronage. The program, dedicated to children and young people aged 12 to 17 from Moldovan families living abroad, aims to connect them with their cultural heritage.
Over six days, participants will engage in cultural and creative activities designed to provide an unforgettable experience and introduce them to winter holiday traditions. The program features meetings with artists and folk craftsmen, museum visits, and creative workshops.
The Diaspora Relations Office reports that the participants come from countries such as Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Ukraine, and Hungary.

The event seeks to strengthen bonds between diaspora children and their national traditions. These efforts seek to reinforce their connection to the Republic of Moldova’s cultural roots and promote the transmission of authentic traditions across generations.
The “DOR de Traditii” program, launched this year, addresses the growing interest among diaspora communities in preserving their emotional ties to Moldova and upholding national values. Through this initiative, diaspora children and young people will rediscover Moldova’s traditions and reconnect with their cultural heritage.
The program welcomes teenagers aged 12-17 with basic Romanian skills and an average level of comprehension. The state budget covers all expenses except transportation to and from Moldova and medical insurance.
