The head of the so-called official representation of the Transnistrian region in Russia, Leonid Manakov, proposed to send a monitoring mission due to “blockade-restrictive measures” from Chisinau after the adoption of the law on separatism, the press service of the so-called PMR Foreign Ministry reports.
“Moldova resorted to new unilateral and unfriendly steps, significantly increased pressure on the half-million population of Transnistria, grossly violates the rights and freedoms of people, including the right to freedom of movement and return to their place of residence, to personal security and inviolability to life and health,” Manakov said online at the 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Manakov called on the Council to pay “very close attention” to the situation in which the population of the region found itself, to take urgent measures to normalize the situation and restore the rights of Pridnestrovians violated by Chisinau.
“In this regard, I propose to send a special monitoring mission of the Human Rights Council to Pridnestrovie in the future to get acquainted with the situation on the ground and prepare a report and recommendations.”
