Two pupils from Floresti took second place in a competition in South Korea. They developed an innovative mobile application

For the second year, Moldova has been among the winners of the international competition dedicated to mobile application developers, the “e-ICON World Contest.” Two students from Floresti took second place in the contest, which was held in South Korea.

Irina and Daniela Grosu, pupils of the Lyceum “Miron Costin” from Floresti, won second place by developing a mobile application that can help improve students’ academic performance. The teenage girls were trained in mobile app design and development as part of the Tekwill in Every School program, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research.

“My experience last year, when I came in 3rd place, motivated me to put in even more effort. I am so happy that our teacher Tatiana Rotar helped us to take second place. This performance makes us even more determined to be the first Moldovan student to bring home a gold medal in 2024,” confessed twelfth-grade student Irina Grosu.

In 2022, Moldova participated for the first time in a competition organized by the South Korean government, and a team called Green Energy, consisting of two students, Irina Grosu and Gheorghe Manolache, took third place in the world with their mobile application designed to combat bad eating habits.

Currently, 50 thousand students from 333 educational institutions in the country are studying at least one of the eight professions of the future thanks to the partnership of the Tekville in Every School project. The project is implemented under the auspices of Tekwill, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research, with the support of external development partners – the European Union, Sweden, and UNDP Moldova.
