Ukraine no longer wants to depend on light from Transnistria. It will build a power line through Palanca

Ukraine plans to build a new high-voltage power line to supply electricity to its southern regions. Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration, reported it.

Kiper explained that the project aims to strengthen critical infrastructure and reduce dependence on the Cuciurgan Power Plant, controlled by separatist Transnistrian authorities. He noted that Ukraine’s energy system was built during the Soviet era, which is why parts of the Odesa region still receive electricity from Transnistria in Moldova.

Ukrainian authorities are working to end their reliance on electricity supplied by Tiraspol, according to IPN. The head of the regional military administration announced that construction has already begun on a new high-voltage line passing through Palanca.

Kiper added that Ukrenergo is financing and executing the project.
