The Vinogradovka border crossing in Ukraine, located approximately three kilometers from Moldova’s Vulcanesti border crossing, was attacked by Shahed drones on Monday morning. The Ukrainian border checkpoint was damaged, and operations at the Vulcanesti-Vinogradovka border crossing have been suspended.
According to Moldova’s Border Police, the incident began at around 2:51 a.m., when the Air Operations Service of the National Army reported a drone moving from Ukraine toward Moldova in the Vulcanesti area, approximately 20 kilometers from the state border.
At 2:55 a.m., the Vinogradovka crossing was attacked by a Shahed drone. The information was relayed to Moldova’s Border Police by Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service. Preliminary information indicates that there were no casualties.
Later, at around 3:49 a.m., the stationary patrol at the Vulcanesti border crossing observed two more explosions caused by Shahed drones on the territory of the Ukrainian checkpoint. The drones crashed on Ukrainian territory.
Another drone was detected in the Vulcanesti area later that morning, approximately 18 kilometers from Moldova’s border. At 4:18 a.m., Ukrainian authorities confirmed that the drone had been shot down.
Following the incidents, Moldovan authorities took the procedural measures required under national legislation. So far, no drone fragments or other objects posing a risk to the population have been found on Moldovan territory, including in the border area.
The Border Police, together with other authorities, continue to monitor the situation and remain in contact with their Ukrainian counterparts.
Authorities are advising people who hear characteristic drone sounds or explosions to remain calm and seek shelter in a safe location. Citizens are also urged to rely only on official information and not approach any suspected drone debris, ammunition or unidentified objects.
