Valentin Gaidarji has announced that he is leaving the PACE party, saying the decision was necessary to allow him to participate in the upcoming elections in the region.
Gaidarji, the President of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, described the decision as “very painful.” He said it was not prompted by a change in his political views but by what he called “artificial circumstances” created by the authorities.
“The Central Electoral Commission excluded the PACE party from the list of political formations eligible to participate in the November 15, 2026 elections. I have good reason to believe that this was done intentionally, with the aim of blocking my participation in the elections or trapping me so that I would not be able to run on the party’s list,” Gaidarji said in a video posted on social media.
Earlier, Gaidarji accused Central Electoral Commission Vice President Pavel Postica of telling him to leave PACE if he wanted to participate in the elections.
Postica explained that the statement was made in the context of the party’s exclusion from the list of political formations eligible to participate in the election.
