Valeriu Chiveri met on March 12 in Brussels with Marta Kos during a working visit. The officials discussed the current situation in the Transnistria settlement process and the promotion of reintegration policies, as well as cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in the context of Moldova’s EU accession process.

During the meeting, Chiveri presented the achievements and priority measures undertaken by Chisinau to address pressing issues faced by residents on both banks of the Dnister River, remove existing barriers in the eastern districts of the country, and restore a unified national space across multiple sectors, including economic, social, educational, energy, and fiscal areas.

“EU officials were offered sincere thanks for the consistent support provided to the Republic of Moldova, including assistance in the energy sector, which helps maintain stability and ensure the energy needs of residents on both banks of the Dniester. This support contributes to the country’s modernization, strengthening, and sustainable development, while ensuring that European quality standards are incorporated into the national regulatory framework.

The interlocutors reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation in support of efforts related to the Transnistrian settlement process, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova,” the statement said.
