The parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova began when officials opened the voting section at the embassy headquarters, where Ana Teisanu, a student at Tsukuba University in Japan, cast the first vote immediately after the national anthem played.

The young woman went to the voting section in Tokyo to exercise her right to vote and to send a message of civic responsibility and confidence in the electoral process. She said, “Voting is not just a right but also a responsibility. Each honest vote writes the future of Moldova. Today I voted for peace, development, and a prosperous Moldova on the European path. I call on young people in the diaspora and in Moldova, as well as all citizens: go out and vote if you love your country. There is no second round—there is only one chance to decide the next four years today. I hope to return home to a country full of dignified people and part of the great European family.”

Moldovan citizens with the right to vote who will be abroad on September 28, 2025, can participate in the parliamentary elections by voting at any section opened abroad, regardless of their residence status in the host country.
