Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said authorities may summon the Russian ambassador after discovering an explosive drone in Crocmaz, calling the incident a challenge to Moldova’s sovereignty.
Grosu noted that Russian officials are likely to deny the drone’s origin. Speaking on ProTV’s In Profunzime, he stressed that this is the second case of drones carrying explosives in Moldova.
“I believe the ambassador will be summoned. Excuse my blunt words, but he should again be faced with what was done. I expect him to make innocent eyes and ask for ‘proof,’ in line with the arrogance of the Russian imperialist mindset. He must be summoned. Each incident is a challenge to Moldova’s security, and this comes from the Russian Federation. Especially since this is the second case,” Grosu said.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi avoided confirming whether the Russian ambassador will be called in. Speaking on Jurnal TV’s Cabinetul din Umbră, he said expelling the Kremlin’s representative could further strain relations, but he did not comment on a formal diplomatic summons.
On January 22, authorities found an explosive-laden drone in Crocmaz. Residents were evacuated, and explosives experts carried out a controlled detonation. The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a “serious violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
