Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban proposed that the Government refrain from shortening the working day on Friday, as previously announced, and instead allow people to stay at home due to weather warnings and difficult road conditions.
Ion Ceban said the Government should not proceed with shortening the working day, an initiative it announced a few days ago, but should allow people to stay at home because authorities warned about dangerous conditions caused by rain, sleet, and snowfall, with risks of black ice and slippery roads. He added that this approach would allow all central and local services to intervene on the roads while citizens remain safe and avoid unnecessary travel.
Meteorologists issued a yellow weather code for black ice, slippery conditions, and falling temperatures across the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova. The warning is valid from January 30 to 31, 2026.
