(VIDEO) Marian Lupu: Moldova Can Reinstate Transnistria Through Prosperity, Not Pressure

Marian Lupu, president of the Respect Moldova Party, believes the current regional circumstances make resolving the Transnistrian issue easier. Speaking on RLIVE TV, Lupu highlighted new conditions that have emerged since 2022 as an opportunity for progress—if Chisinau adopts a smart, balanced, and responsible approach.

Lupu stated, “If the Moldovan government focuses on developing the country, reintegration will follow naturally and harmoniously. I don’t believe pressure or threats will achieve this.”

He argued that addressing the economic and social challenges on the right bank of the Dniester provides the only viable path to reintegration. “If economic decline continues over the next four years, we risk losing both the country and the remaining population,” he warned.

Lupu emphasized that the government must prioritize economic growth and social development. “This approach creates a strong incentive for people on the left bank to want to be part of a reunited Moldova,” he said.

He also stressed that prosperity serves as the most powerful argument for reintegration. “It’s no coincidence that over a million Moldovans choose to work in Europe or Russia, where salaries and living conditions are significantly better. That offers a very strong motivation,” Lupu concluded.
