As part of the “Moldova That Unites Us” campaign, citizens of the Republic of Moldova shared what objects, people, or values they most associate with their country. Their answers revealed a vibrant blend of traditions, cultural symbols, and social aspirations.
Many described Moldova as synonymous with family, joyful children, and a decent life. Others highlighted the importance of folk traditions and cultural heritage. “Traditions, first of all. The Moldovan people and how welcoming they are,” one respondent emphasized.
“Our traditional food is delicious, but our customs are truly beautiful,” a young woman declared. Another participant added, “Mamaliga, music, weddings.”
Historical and cultural landmarks also featured prominently in the responses. Citizens mentioned “Stephen the Great, national cuisine, the Romanian language,” along with symbolic places: “Orheiul Vechi, Soroca, and Chisinau—because I’ve lived here since I was little, I was born here, and this is my home.”
