(VIDEO) NATO is keeping an eye on Moldova. What does Mark Rutte say about talks with the country’s president?

NATO closely monitors developments in Moldova, focusing on its security and stability amidst regional tensions. The alliance supports Moldova’s sovereignty and works to strengthen its resilience against potential threats, including hybrid warfare and external influence.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said in a press conference ahead of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers on December 3-4 that the dialog between Moldova and NATO will continue. As for the head of state, Rutte said he is in intensive contact with her.

Mark Rutte referenced the Russian drones that were downed on Moldovan territory, highlighting the broader security challenges faced by Moldova due to its proximity to the conflict in Ukraine. He suggested that Moldova and Romania would hold bilateral talks on the matter. Moreover, NATO sources told Moldovan journalists that by the end of the year, they would deliver military equipment to our country without giving further details on the subject.

“I have the highest respect for Maya Sandu, the president of Moldova, and I’m in intense contact with her, and we will continue to do so. Obviously, the question on the drones is very much, I think, also a bilateral question. Romania and Moldova could do it here, so it’s not up to me. And now, to comment on that, I understand the question, but I would leave it with the remaining authorities for the moment,” he said.
