Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated on Thursday, January 9, during a visit to Varnita, that electricity tariffs for the right bank of the Dniester River will not increase in the coming months. Recean emphasized that the authorities have assessed all risks and implemented necessary measures to prevent tariff hikes, reports Bani.md.
“We have considered all the risks that may arise over the next six months, and there are no grounds for a tariff increase. We continue to encourage saving energy during peak hours, and with this effort, there will certainly be no need for tariff increases,” said the Prime Minister.
The announcement follows a 75% increase in electricity tariffs on January 4, resulting from power supply interruptions at the Cuciurgan power plant after Gazprom ceased gas deliveries to the left bank of the Dniester.

In September 2024, during the lead-up to the presidential election campaign, Prime Minister Recean assured that natural gas and electricity tariffs would not increase. However, contrary to these assurances, the tariffs raised.
“The election campaign has not officially begun, but a wave of false information has been launched, especially regarding natural gas and electricity tariffs. The government cannot predict international market developments, but we assure everyone that Moldovans will not pay higher tariffs for gas and electricity this season,” Recean stated.
