(VIDEO) Social policy and Employment in Moldova to Be Discussed in Brussels

European integration represents a national priority, and at this moment, the European Union partners offer a unique opportunity and total openness to help the Republic of Moldova join the EU by 2030. Cristina Jandic, Deputy Secretary General at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, made this statement in an interview for IPN News Agency.

Cristina Jandic explained that central public authorities, including the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, are preparing for the bilateral screening meeting on Chapter 19 – Social Policy and Employment – scheduled to take place in Brussels.

“We will show our EU colleagues where we stand, what we have achieved, and what we still need to do. The European Union will assess our progress, and that evaluation will help us stay disciplined and do our ‘homework’ properly so that we are ready to join by 2030,” stated Cristina Jandic.

She emphasized that authorities continue working on transposing EU legislation—a complex process that requires analyzing EU laws, understanding Moldova’s national context and adjusting legislation accordingly.

However, she noted that the biggest challenge is fully implementing all the EU regulations and directives after authorities transpose them.

“Our main challenge is to strengthen the capacity of central authorities, subordinate agencies, and the civil service to understand and apply European legislation effectively,” said Jandic.

Cristina Jandic added that implementing reforms is everyone’s responsibility. Authorities communicate openly with civil society organizations active in areas like child protection and disability rights.

They also engage with trade unions and employer associations to ensure inclusive and effective consultation during the legislative transposition process.
